PPA to begin ticketing some of the illegally parked vehicles on the Broad Street median

South Philly residents are still pretty split on whether or not parking should be allowed on the Broad Street median, as shown through this recent survey.

A permanent ban on this already-illegal parking won’t be happening at this time, but Mayor Kenney is trying to please both sides of the issue by making some new enforcements on Broad Street. The Philadelphia Parking Authority will now be ticketing vehicles in the median only “when a car is fishtailed, in the turning lane, and in the crosswalk.”

Survey shows pretty close split in opinions on Broad Street median parking

For the Democratic National Convention, the Broad Street median was cleared of vehicles. Some were so happy with the emptier streets, that they started a petition to make this a permanent enforcement.

The Democratic National Convention may be bringing some cool additions to South Philly and the city at large, with things like murals and the decorated donkeys, but it is also complicating daily routines for many in the city.
