Link Love: Dickinson Square building boom; G-ho ‘high-rise looks familiar; Melrose lifer

  • As part of its Greasy Spoons Week, Eater checked in at the Melrose Diner and spoke with Karen Donahue, a waitress who has worked in Philly diners for nearly 50 years. Holy crap, that’s a lot of scrapple. One interesting note – she says the most popular dishes are the Italian specialties like chicken parm. Really? With all the Italian around here, it’s amazing that anyone would go to a diner for chicken parm.

  • Naked Philly says there has been a whole lot of single-family home building just west of Dickinson Square Park around 5th and Dickinson.  And from the looks of it, developers are making a killing with in-fill housing. Lots there are still relatively inexpensive and buyers have been snapping up the homes because of the proximity to the park.
  • A new five-story apartment building with retail on the first floor has been proposed for 2300 South St. at the intersection of Gray’s Ferry and 23rd, says Hidden City. Continue Reading →
