Street cleaning program, another gateway planned for West Passyunk

The Newbold Community Development Corporation is planning to start a street-cleaning program in March on Passyunk and Snyder avenues west of Broad, one of several initiatives planned for 2014 to tame what some people have referred to as the “Wild West of Passyunk Avenue.”

Help make West Passyunk and Snyder Ave. a nicer place

The Newbold CDC, which is charged with helping improve the commercial corridors of West Passyunk and Snyder Avenue,  is throwing a fundraiser for its beautification efforts.

The party goes down at South Philly Tap Room from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday Oct. 30. The suggested donation is $50, which includes food, beer and wine. If that’s too steep for you, you could shave off a bit from the “suggestion.”

The CDC is the one organization the has planted some greenery in the new islands that were formed with the redesign of West Passyunk. CDC President Tim Lidiak tells us that many more plantings are on the way, and this fundraiser will help maintain the new greenery.
