Updated plans for 1245 Point Breeze Ave. still not a crowd-pleaser for residents

The last time we told you about the development of 1245 Point Breeze Ave., it was in regards to a food co-op that was proposed for the location. That idea was shot down by the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment, forcing Ori Feibush to rethink his plans for the location.

The new concept for the Point Breeze Avenue property includes four stories with twelve apartments that would each be roughly 500 sq. ft. According to Metro, despite these altered plans, residents attending last week’s South Philadelphia HOMES meeting in regards to the development were still not pleased.

Ori Feibush planning ‘simple but new concept’ restaurant in former Buckminster’s space

Buckminster’s, the neo-bistro from Michael Pasquarello, closed in June after less than a year at 21st and Federal.

Now Ori Feibush, the developer who always has big plans for his Point Breeze neighborhood, will be opening a “simple but new concept” restaurant in this location with his fiancee Elise Lemay.

Point Breeze Food Co-op won’t be coming to 1245 Point Breeze Ave.

The idea for a community grocery store for Point Breeze Avenue emerged in May with plans to bring a glass-box-like development with the food co-op on the ground floor to a neighborhood that has been called a “food desert.”

The plans for the food co-op and development for 1245 Point Breeze Ave. were reviewed last week, receiving a “no” from the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Will the commercial space in this Point Breeze mixed-use development become a new food co-op?

Naked Philly, the real estate news website run by OCF Realty, shared a snippet of news on Friday about plans for a “big glass box” that will descend upon Point Breeze Avenue.

The plan for the project is to keep some of the remaining structure, which is currently Point Save Super, and add an additional two floors of the more modern-looking, glass-box-like structure to the top of the building at 1245 Point Breeze Ave. While the plans themselves are worth checking out, what may be the more interesting news about this project is the food co-op that could be in the works for the ground-floor commercial space.

Breezy’s and OCF Realty feud: cafe closing at end of week, relocating to new location

In November a Craigslist posting appeared for Breezy’s Cafe‘s location at 1200 Point Breeze Ave. The listing showed the 1,400 sq. ft. location up for rent for a new tenant to move in during October of 2016.

Breezy’s Cafe now has a new location lined up as they’re allegedly being forced out of this current spot due to back rent.
