Luke Palladino files for bankruptcy. What’s next for Palladino’s on Passyunk?

Earlier this summer Luke Palladino announced that renovations would be coming to his East Passyunk Avenue restaurant, with a planned reopening date of September 9. What Palladino didn’t say was that the reason for the closure was due to back rent, leading to him being sued by the building’s landlord.

New Executive Director named for Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation

In November we found out that Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation‘s Executive Director would be stepping down in 2016. Since Sam Sherman joined PARC in 2011, he has worked on development projects to create a better East Passyunk Avenue, with more than $6.2 million invested into the commercial corridor.

Bryan Fenstermaker has now been named as Sherman’s replacement. Fenstermaker has experience as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation in West Philly. He will begin this new role at PARC on April 20.

Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation’s Executive Director resigning in 2016

News broke yesterday that Sam Sherman, the Executive Director for Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation, is stepping down in 2016.

In his five years in this position, Sherman and PARC have helped transform East Passyunk Avenue, bringing the street to become the go-to destination that it is today.

Completed East Passyunk Avenue gateway to be unveiled at upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony

We’ve been following the plans for the East Passyunk Avenue gateway project since it was first announced back in January of 2014.

After a few month of work since the April groundbreaking ceremony, the completed gateway is ready to be unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 10.

Live music at the improved Mifflin Street triangle for remaining Passyunk Passeggiatas

Since May, Passyunk Passeggiata events have been occurring on East Passyunk Avenue every Wednesday, encouraging strolls down the Avenue with special offers at various retail establishments and restaurants.

With only 5 weeks remaining for the Passyunk Passeggiata, the newly-improved Mifflin Street triangle will be adding some live music and fun for Wednesday nights.

Two plans presented for 12th and Passyunk pedestrian improvements

The intersection at 12th, Passyunk and Morris includes everything from newer spots like Bing Bing Dim Sum and Palo Santo Wellness boutique, to longer-standing stores like A Man’s Image, the Dollar Store and Interior Concepts.

One side of the intersection is really far from the other

With a lot happening at this intersection, one of the major concerns has been that of safety when crossing these streets. A meeting was held by the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association last night to discuss the plans for the pedestrian improvements that we’ve been telling you about for some time now.

Passyunk and Mifflin triangle project near completion

In April we told you about the Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation’s plans to rebuild the triangle at Passyunk and Mifflin Streets.
