Acme at 19th and Oregon unveils beer section with frosted mugs

There’s finally an explanation for that orange liquor license application at the 19th and Oregon Acme that we reported about way back in October — it’s a beer cafe and six-pack shop, the first that we know of in the city.

Dan Croce, Acme’s vice president of operations, told us they’re selling about 400 varieties of beer, of which you can buy up to two six packs at a time (just like takeout beer at a bar). Or you can have a seat at the new cafe with a frosted mug and grub from the grocery store or a small menu.

Why is there a liquor license at Acme at 19th and Oregon?

Thanks to our helpful tipster Ariel Ritaldato for sending this one in. You can be an honored informant too. Just snap a picture of anything you find interesting and email it to us at punk@passyunkpost.com.

A liquor license has been posted on the Acme at 19th and Oregon, which includes a notice that alcohol could be served outside.

Where exactly? A spokeswoman at Acme’s corporate office in Malvern said it was still too early to discuss the store’s plans.

And a quick look at the PLCB’s terrible website turned up – nothing. The info online only lists names of bigwigs at Acme Markets, including Jim Perkins, who became president of all Acme markets after the chain was sold in March to a group of hedge funds.
