Pope pizza boxes are one of many items for sale around the city for the papal visit this weekend. While they’re certainly an interesting novelty item, these boxes are also helping to raise money for a local school.
If you buy one of these pizza boxes (or, you know, the pizza that comes in the box from certain restaurants in the city), the proceeds from it will go to Southwark Elementary School.
If you’re looking to pick up some Pope Francis shirts to remember this weekend for all of the chaos it seems to be causing in the city, now’s your chance at 9th and Passyunk, across from Pat’s and Geno’s.
As the pope’s visit approaches, new details are being released on the parking situation in the city. Residents with permit parking in the zones of Center City that will be blocked off for the visit will be moving to other residential permit spots in the city, which could mean a lot more vehicles coming down to South Philly, especially near the subway stops.
Parking can sometimes seem as if it’s the only issue on the minds of South Philly residents. It’s usually been a problem when discussing new development projects, but now there’s a more holy reason for residents to complain.

For the upcoming papal visit, residents are preparing to “pray to the park gods” that the parking situation won’t be too disastrous.
