Edge lines being repainted on Washington Avenue

Plans for the restriping of Washington Avenue have been in the works since early 2014. While the full-on restriping isn’t being completed just yet, some small victories are being made in terms of visibility and safety on the road.

This week the Streets Department will be working to repaint the edge lines as a safety measure for Washington Avenue. According to the Bicycle Coalition, “The line will be at, or just under, five-feet between parked cars and the outside travel lane.”

Meeting discussed Washington Avenue restriping, likely to be completed in summer of 2016

Last week a meeting was held to discuss the hot-topic issue of the restriping of Washington Avenue. While these plans have been in the works for some time now, a consensus has not been reached on the best design for the road.

The Streets Department, Planning Commission and Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities gathered on Thursday with about 200 community members to discuss the restriping, which could be completed in summer of 2016.

Upcoming meeting to discuss future restriping of Washington Avenue

We’ve told you previously about the restriping plans to make Washington Avenue a safer street for all types of commuters.

Now a meeting is being held with the Streets Department, Planning Commission and the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities to discuss how to improve this ever-changing street and help to create a new restriping proposal.
