What's Happening in:  Graduate Hospital :  Grays Ferry 

SOSNA seeks feedback on 24th and Bainbridge pedestrian triangles

The most buzzed about pedestrian triangle in the area covered by the South of South Neighborhood Association tends to be the Grays Ferry Triangle at 23rd and South. While that may be the largest community gathering place, there are two more pedestrian triangles that SOSNA is seeking feedback on.

These two Grays Ferry Avenue triangles, located at 24th and Bainbridge, could be seeing some improvements “with the goals of enhancing safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists and improving aesthetics.”

Get a preview of the future of Carpenter Green at a backyard BBQ event

Carpenter Green has been a work-in-progress at 17th and Carpenter for years now. Phase I was completed in the fall of 2015, and the rest of the project is expected to be completed in 2017 once funding is completely secured.

While it will still be a while until Carpenter Green becomes a full fledged community space, you’ll have a chance to get a preview of the park with a backyard BBQ event that will be held there in June.

What's Happening in:  Graduate Hospital 

Attend this SOSNA meeting to learn more about mixed-use development planned for 2501 Washington Ave.

Councilman Johnson recently introduced a new bill to remap a lot at 25th and Washington to IRMX, which would allow a mix of residential and commercial to be built on the property, just like he did for the Lincoln Square project at Broad and Washington.

The project proposed for the lot at 2501 Washington Ave. has presented before with South of South Neighborhood Association, but the group will present one last time next week with plans for this mix of retail, apartments, homes, parking and more.

What's Happening in:  All over South Philly 

What would you like to see on Washington Avenue in the future?

We all know that Washington Avenue is changing. There’s the 32-story Blatstein project and Lincoln Square at Broad Street, the Frankford Chocolate Factory, plenty of other mixed-use projects popping up all along the street, plans for restriping, new businesses and plenty more development. There is a ton happening here already, but still so much room for growth and improvements.

Based on all of this, the South of South Neighborhood Association is now looking for some feedback on what you would like to see in the future on Washington Avenue.
