Phreak ‘n Queer Art Crawl TONIGHT along Passyunk

Seven business along the 1700 and 1800 blocks of East Passyunk are throwing a little party/art crawl tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. as part of the Phreak ‘n’ Queer Arts and Music festival.


The shops showing artwork are Frame Fatale, Home, Nice Things Handmade, South Philly Comics, Headhunters Hair Designs, Aversa PR & Events and Occasionette.

A trio of Passyunk folks release a new graphic novel

Moon_Girl_CoverLooking for a little comic relief? A team of your fellow Passyunk-ers has you covered.

Artist Rahzzah and writers Tony Trov and Johnny Zito, all residents of the neighborhood, released a new graphic novel yesterday starring Moon Girl, a superheroine from the early 20th Century.

The trio first resurrected the character in 2010 on digital comics distributor comiXology (the rights for her fell into the public domain), and have since brought her back to the print realm.

You can buy the new book at South Philly Comics at 1840 E. Passyunk Ave. , where you’ll a get free Moon Girl button with purchase. Or you can get it through  South Fellini, the group’s homegrown publishing house, or via special-order at any comic shop (you’ll need the order code: NOV121284).
