Newbold, East Passyunk Crossing among Top 5 “hottest” neighborhoods in region

The national website Redfin has named East Passyunk Crossing and Newbold as No. 3 and 4 hottest neighborhoods around the Philadelphia region. Wayne (1), Elkins Park (2) and Haverford (5) round out the top five.

The number of pageviews for listings jumped a whopping 513 percent in EPX and 435 percent in Newbold year-to-year.

So, you ask, how the hell are Elkins Park and South Philly on the same list of “hot neighborhoods?”

For the second year in a row, East Passyunk has been voted as the city’s best neighborhood in a poll on Curbed.com.

Bloomberg loves South Philly, citing it in 5 of 10 reasons to move to the city

East Passyunk Ave, Pennsport, Bella Vista, Passyunk Square and even PEP Bowl at Broad and Federal all got shout-outs from the national website Bloomberg last week in a story touting Philadelphia as a great place to move.

Those first three name drops were listed in the blurb for the first and second reasons Bloomberg listed, which were affordable urban living and “Families don’t have to move to the burbs”:

The website Flying Kite Media did a very flattering feature on us, calling the site “essential reading for South Philly residents and would-be residents alike.” In a wide-ranging Q&A with Editor/Founder Albert Stumm, Flying Kite reveals how we got we started and hits a lot of other key points.

After a couple years working in the service industry, including a short stint as a bellman at the Rittenhouse Hotel, [Stumm] earned a master’s in journalism from Temple University and eventually landed his current full-time gig — assistant city editor at the Daily News. That experience has served him well. In only six months, Passyunk Post has cultivated thousands of readers.
