Spike from Top Chef is looking for Philly space?

Spike, from Washington City Paper

This is a bit out of the way for us, but Spike Mendelsson just Tweeted that he’s looking for space in Philly.

I’m looking for ~3,000 sq ft in downtown Philly. Know of any spaces available? Email me at info@goodstuffeatery.com

Thanks to contributor Anthony Sica for tipping us off to that one. And Eater Philly speculated in October about the rumors he would come here. This would bring our Top Chef stars back up a notch, adding to Kevin Sbraga and making up for the loss of Jen Carroll to New York.

Let’s get him to open in the King of Jeans building. That will be about 3,000 square feet. And some old-timers still call South Philly “dowtown.” Shhh. He’ll never know.

Sorry, Spike needs more foot traffic than South Philly has to offer. I wouldn’t expect him to open up anywhere other than Center City or maybe West Philly.
