24-hour veterinary hospital nears opening in Pennsport

We noticed a some construction a while back, and now some pretty glass windows, next to Mekong River on Front Street. We’ve got word that the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Levittown, Bucks County, is opening their second location at 1114 S. Front St. in Pennsport.

Here’s what 1114 S. Front St. will look like when you can fix Fluffy here

Rebecca K Orsher, marketing manager for VSEC, tells us that construction is going well and that they plan to open Feb. 4.

“We chose the location because it is easily accessible from I-95 and there is parking available,” Orsher said. “Also there is a need for 24-hour emergency and specialty care in the area.”

Available parking in South Philly is almost an oxymoron, but in this case she’s right, with acres of parking across the street under I-95. Good thing, too, because when there is a pet emergency at 2 a.m., parking is the last thing you want to worry about.

Getting there
You can see Mekong River with the green awnings next door

Nice to see two active uses over what was there before, according to streetview:

Beyond 24-hour emergency care, VSEC will offer specialty care, according to a press release about their new hospital:

This second location of the well-known Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center (VSEC) at 1114 South Front Street will have 24-hour emergency and critical care along with specialty referral appointments in cardiology, surgery, oncology, internal medicine, ultrasound, dermatology, neurosurgery and neurology, behavior and holistic medicine including acupuncture.

Pet acupuncture? OK, sure. On Feb. 2 VSEC is holding an open house for cat and dog lovers from 1 to 4 p.m.
