Buttercream Cupcake opened its brick and mortar store last week and threw a party for itself with bourbon and free cupcakes on Saturday. Quite a mix.
The store, which we told you about in December, is at 2015 E. Moyamensing Ave. Owner/baker Kate Carrara launched the truck in mid-2009 and quickly made Buttercream a staple in the Philadelphia food truck scene. It was voted Best Food Truck in 2010.
The truck, however, will still be operating. The website says the truck comes back in March, so those of you used to getting their fix elsewhere won’t have to make the trek to Pennsport if you don’t want to.
The menu consists of two categories, standards for $2.50 a piece – red velvet with cream cheese frosting, yellow cake with chocolate ganache, many more – and fancies for $3.25 – sweet potato with Fluff butterceam, s’mores, turtle, more.
Meanwhile, get ready for more treats in the future. Carrara plans to start making wedding cakes, cookies, mini pies, and other baked sweets.
