SoPhilly Spotlight: The Delicious smell of fried chicken edition

For this week’s SoPhilly Spotlight, we head to a beautiful house near Passyunk Avenue and the subway for well under $200,000.

It’s a bonus that it’s within sniffing distance of Popeye’s and Dunkin Donuts, or a con that it’s so close to their dumpsters. This house at 2025 S. Watts St. just popped up on Trulia yesterday for the low price of $165,000, offered by PruFoxRoach.

The facts seem a little vague. Is it a 1 bedroom 1 bath with a first floor office? Or a 2 bedroom 1 bath? The listing doesn’t even tell the square footage. But it’s definitely in great shape and in a great location. And it has a garage.

The only thing is,  we know this block, and it’s more of an alley. All the houses face the back of the stores on the 2000 block of Broad Street: Dunkin Donuts, Popeye’s, Rite Aid, the dollar store… You wouldn’t have to worry about traffic noise or speeding cars- just the odors. If the smells don’t permeate the house, or if you don’t mind them, then this building is a steal! Especially for a creative person who needs the extra work space on the first floor.

Not exactly a charming block. That’s the house on the right. No Parkin

From the listing:

Incredible Passyunk Square property with GARAGE!!!! For a very reasonable price!!! Property is perfect for a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath home, OR, a duplex-2 units… OR a commercial space+garage and separate living quarters with Granite kitchen, hardwood floor, tile bath, large and super clean painted garage with separate office/bedroom and bath behind the garage space, sheet rocked walls and ceilings and much more’ check the comps, this is THE BEST opportunity in the hottest area of the city, Passyunk Square!!!

We’re not sure, though, if two units are already there, or if that’s just a possibility. Something’s not right here. And the new AVI numbers aren’t in yet. Taxes were actually relatively high for the size and the area at $1,876.

A women power shower!

Perfect for building that go-kart you’ve been putting off.

Not exactly an eat-in kitchen, but you could put a small dining table on the other side of the fridge.

Is this an extra room on the first floor? Or the second floor?

What is with the door to no where in the living room? Are you meant to jump or install a pole?
