Yeah, it opened a few months ago, but we finally got around to getting over there, so we figured we they should get a proper shout out. But what’s an ice cream shop doing opening for business in the fall, anyway?
People always love ice cream, says Steve Cho, co-owner of the name-popping shop, Brown Chicken – Brown Cow. That’s just what they said at Avenue Scoop in Bella Vista when they opened a couple months ago.
The Pennsport shop, which opened in late October on Second Street near Wharton, is diagonally in front of the neighborhood water park. It offers a variety of flavors such as tiramisu, chocolate dirt and graham cracker, plus basics such as sherbert and strawberry ice cream. Cho and his co-conspirator Eric Luther also offer up coffee in all forms (regular, espresso, latte) as well as tea and hot chocolate.
The hand dipped ice cream is made at Shadybrook Farm in Yardley, Bucks County. Cho and Luther say that as spring approaches, Brown Chicken-Brown Cow will add sandwiches and waffles to the menu.
BCBC, for short, is open seven days a week: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
They’ll let us know when they get that menu ready, and we’ll pass it along.
Incidentally, when you google the shop’s name, a listing for Urban Dictionary comes up: “An onomatopaeic imitation of the guitar riff commonly heard in 1970’s porn movies,” or bow chicka wow wow. We’re guessing the owners were more inclined to the farm reference than an accidental porn reference. This is a family friendly place, after all.
Meanwhile, BCBW posted this awesome video of a concert for cows to their Facebook page, so we had to share.
Hey, all you Pennsporters. Tip us off to anything new in your neighborhood at firstname.lastname@example.org.
