Tiny Schell Street seeing big development

Well, it’s big for how small Schell Street is. Schell is a tiny wisp of an alley between 9th and Darien streets, and the 900 block of it will be home to at least three fancy new houses.

The home at 900 S. Schell St. backs up to Italian Market businesses on 9th and on Christian. Construction has begun on it and permits were recently filed for another at 906, and there’s a hole in the ground at 904. Across Schell at 901 and 903, it appears that site prep has begun for two more.

According to the real estate listing for 900, the three buildings are an “ultra chic construction” with “high-end finishes” such as granite counter tops and hardwood floors.

Being located right off of the Italian Market doesn’t hurt either.

For $350,000, you’ll get 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms in just over 1,300 square feet. They have a walk-in closet on the 3rd floor bedroom, a finished basement with washer and dryer, and best of all, a roof deck with a spectacular view of Center City.

This is what they call Schell “Street”
Construction must be hell for the current residents of this street
900 is past the new house. They wouldn’t let us back there to get better pictures
900 is on the left with the building wrap, and houses will theoretically come to the lots on the right

There’s a lot of interest in this area suddenly. It’s a stone’s throw from the development that’s being completed on Darien and Montrose that replaced the old Fante-Leon pool.

Three more houses here
