The South Philly Co-op is in a pickle, kind of

The South Philly Food Co-op is getting a reputation for always having cool events, and they’re at it again. This Sunday, April 14  from 1 to 3 p.m. the co-op is hosting an afternoon of pickling and fermenting at the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association and Town Watch Center, 1729 S. 11th St.

Pickling is all the rage right now, and with George Sabatino and his pickles gone from Stateside, this class is the perfect timing for us to take matters into our own hands.

The event will be hosted by Amanda Feifer of Her spread includes sourdough bread, pickles and yogurt. Space is limited, so this is a ticketed event. Pricing varies from $15 to $30 depending on if you plan to just observe the class or if you want to take home some goodies to kickstart your own project.

The co-op warns that this event will probably sell out, so get your ticket quick.

In other co-op news, their campaign to recruit 75 new members in 75 days is going well, as in the campaign doesn’t officially end until April 30 and they’ve already welcomed 73 new members well. So, why not up the ante? They are going to try for 100 new members. It’s totally possible, but of course they need a little help. Maybe think about inviting your neighbor or your co-worker to the pickling event to give them a subtle nudge about becoming a member.
