Well, little has happened at the building – perhaps too little. A curious reader happened to look into the box late last week to see what kind of suggestions were in there. Turns out, there was only a shutoff notice from PGW.
We talked to building owner Freddie Renzulli yesterday and he said he’s aware of the notice and that he’s going to take care of it. The ownership of the building is still tied up in a court battle between Renzulli and his family and another appeal was just recently filed, so he’s in a holding pattern for another couple of months.
Meanwhile, he’s working on finishing renovating the apartment upstairs and he’s gotten some great suggestions for the storefront. Those ideas include a small specialty grocery store, a used book store and a Federal Street doughnuts.
The doughnut idea is … well, a bit of a pipe dream – kind of like our dream it could one day be a wine boutique (there or anywhere else). And Renzulli said he’s not sure a used book store will be profitable enough to support his family of five. So, we’ll see. No matter what it becomes, it might be a while.
UPDATE: Here’s another suggestion (from our friend Pennsporter). Leave a note.
