His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden are stopping in Philadelphia as part of a four-city tour this week, including a visit to the American Swedish Historical Museum in FDR Park.
From the press release:
In 1638, Swedish and Finnish colonists arrived on board the full- rigged pinnace, Kalmar Nyckel, to present-day Wilmington, where they established New Sweden. Today, 375 years late, we are celebrating the founding of New Sweden.
Better late than never?
Before the museum, which they’ll visit at 1900 Pattison Ave. about 3:45 p.m. on Friday, they’ll also go to lesser known tourist attractions such as a little thing called the Liberty Bell and that Independence Mall thingy, plus City Hall.
