Little Theater, a new children’s learning center, is opening on July 6 on Gray’s Ferry Avenue.
This new business is designed for young children to engage in books, educational story plays, songs and word development. It is intended to create a peaceful and calm center where children, newborns through age 5, and their parents or guardians can get some early, hands-on education.
According to Little Theater’s website, “story plays” incorporate reading while acting out scenes from the books, as well as arts and crafts activities. The plays are said to promote language development and expand the children’s imagination. Story plays are also read in Spanish.
Little Theater they also hosts events such as a Teddy Bear Picnic and a Stuffed Animal Sleep Over (which we’d guess is more like nap time than a Saturday night packed with hi-jinks).
The theater’s founder, Ms. Pam, began her career as librarian in Princeton and won the Allie Beth Martin award from Public Library Association, which honors professional book worms for extraordinary knowledge of library materials and distinguished ability in sharing that knowledge.
Hours will be Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 6 p.m. You can reach them at 2227 Grays Ferry Road, and at 215-668-7343.
