– The Dickinson Square West Civic Association is holding a Neighbors’ Night Event tonight at 7 p.m. at the Industry bar on Moyamensing & Reed. Kick back and enjoy a few appetizers and a cocktail or two. “Drink specials and nibbles for all,” says the invite.
– A successful crowd-funding effort means the basketball court at 20th and Tasker streets will undergo a $275,000 redesign, reports Flying Kite. Jeffrey Tubbs of the nonprofit Urban Roots hopes to turn the basketball court into “Rucker Philly,” modeled after the Rucker Park courts in Harlem, which the Bleacher Report called the Wall Street of playground basketball. Tubbs hopes the project will be the first phase of a much larger neighborhood revitalization effort.
– And the Passyunk Square Civic Association is holding its monthly clean-up on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Meet at the Passyunk Gardens at Passyunk and Wharton; supplies will be provided (except gloves).
