Pa. wines get a bad wrap, according to the owners of Jet Wine Bar at 1525 South St. So they want to take you on a tasting to show off all the good stuff. The $65 ticket, though a bit pricey, gets you a glass of bubbly at Jet before the tour, transportation to an afternoon’s worth of tasting at two wineries near Kutztown, lunch, and the bubbly and knowledgeable Jill Weber, Jet’s owner.  11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find tickets here.

It’s Second Saturday again along East Passyunk. Find the full line-up here, but one highlight is Slushie Second Saturday sponsored by Occasionette and Home:

Home + Occasionette, two of East Passyunk Avenue’s newest boutiques and Best of Philly winners, are delighted to announce their August event, Slushie Second Saturday on August 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. Home, a furnishing boutique, 1815 E. Passyunk Ave., will be open from noon to 9 p.m., and Occasionette goods & gifts, 1825 E. Passyunk Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. We will have a slushie cart between the two shops on the Avenue for a refreshing treat to celebrate Second Saturday.

Friday and Saturday

The Pennsylvania Dutch Festival is happening at Reading Terminal Market, complete with all the delicious delicacies of the region, plus live bluegrass music, buggy rides, a petting zoo, a wider selection of vendors selling handmade crafts and more. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free. Check here for more info.

All weekend, and forever…

Or, if you’re feeling like a night in but wanna mix it up a bit, get a new growler a and fill it up with tasty, tasty beer at one of eight locations around South Philly (when you include South Street on down). Check out Foobooz’s handy new growler guide here.
