El Paisano Express coming to 9th and Federal

The Mexican joint La Lupe at 9th and Federal is giving way to a place called El Paisano Express Food.

Workers have been sprucing up the restaurant for a few weeks now, replacing the awning and painting the facade. We couldn’t find any information about the place online, and there was a bit of a language barrier when we stopped by.

But from the list of offerings along the awning, it appears this place will cover a lot of bases.

Out of the image on the right it also says sandwiches. And around the corner:

Can’t remember the last time we had a Mexican salmon club or fish and chips. Ok, sure, what the hell.

It’s also right up the block from Pat’s and Geno’s, and next door to the brand new Zoey’s Yogurt bar, which we showed you just yesterday.

Not sure. The place never seemed vacant before this new crew started working, so maybe just a switch in management? Weird thing is that someone left a Yelp review of La Lupe on Sept 24, which is definitely after work had begun

The La Lupe people opened a restaurant on 9th St (Acapulco? maybe? It’s near Teri’s). Shortly after this second restaurant opened, La Lupe closed. The Iztaccihuatl people near 8th and Alter then opened their second restaurant in the La Lupe space, though they kept most of the La Lupe signage, which I thought was weird. Anyway, it looks like yet another Mexican place will go in there. And yes, I eat too much Mexican food. 🙂
