  • A new vintage goods store called Decades Boutique will be moving into 704 S. 5th St., the former home of sex apparel shop Passional, reports Racked Philly. The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 19, says the blog:

Decades Boutique will house vintage goods and American-made clothing, including [designer/owner Arielle] Salkowitz’s own line. What’s more, the store will feature local painters and musicians throughout the year “in the hopes of bringing awareness to the wonderful art community of Philadelphia.”

  • South Philly resident and filmmaker Ben Kalina made a documentary called Shored Up, will be broadcast nationally on DIRECTV’s Audience Channel on Oct. 24. The film is about coastal development and rising sea levels in the United States in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Check out the trailer here.
