Headhouse Crab & Oyster Co. opens at 119 South St. with Little Fish’s old chef


The Headhouse Oyster and Crab Co. has opened at 119 South St., which was briefly Ralic’s on South, that building with the huge Octopus out front.

Mike Stollenwerk, who rose to prominence as chef at the tiny, delicious Little Fish in Bella Vista, is steering the kitchen after bouncing around for a little while.

The casual seafooder is open “with a boardwalk vibe.” The reasonably priced menu (see below) includes many of the staples you’d find at a Shore restaurant and “the bar uses local ingredients whenever possible with several local beers and Philadelphia Distlling Co. spirits,” according to a news release.

Weekly specials include Buck-a-Shuck Wednesdays and $3Taco Tuesdays with $3 drafts and fish tacos.

There will be crabs by the pound, New England-style “boils,” a raw bar and appetizers with “unexpected updates on classic dishes, such as Smoked Salmon & Cucumber Tea Sandwich, Chicken Fried Oysters, and Corn Waffle & Lobster Salad with Tabasco Syrup.”
