Tom Hanks’ loft from ‘Philadelphia’ will be on Bella Vista home tour this weekend

The loft apartment where Tom Hanks’ character lived in the 1993 Oscar-winning movie “Philadelphia” will be among the highlights of the third annual Bella Vista House Tour on Sunday Oct. 20, from 1-5 p.m.

The tri-level unit features a sprawling living space, recently redone kitchen and top-floor deck with panoramic views of the Center City skyline.

The tour will give a sense of Bella Vista’s diverse housing stock. Other stops will include a former bottling factory transformed into a single-family home; a landscape architect’s third-floor aerie overlooking Cianfrani Park at 8th and Fitzwater; a hidden gem tucked away on one of the neighborhood’s small streets; and side-by-side row homes with very different design sensibilities.

Proceeds from the event benefit beautification efforts by Bella Vista Town Watch, a registered nonprofit group serving the neighborhood on a range of community issues. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 the day of the event.

Tour participants also can enjoy a free cup of coffee by showing their map at one of several neighborhood cafes.

For tickets and information, visit or call 215-627-0057. Tickets can be picked up at Fleisher Art Memorial, 719 Catharine St., on Oct. 20, starting at 12:30 p.m.
