Quick Hits: Pretty Pier 53; park proposed for 17th and Carpenter; Royal Theater plan

- Philly Mag’s Property blog sent photographer Laura Kicey to snap some shots of Pier 53, the site of the city’s next Delaware Waterfront improvement project, which broke ground near Washington Avenue last week. The photo set shows a nice escape already, if you can get back there.
- The South of South Neighbors Association is raising money to turn the empty lot at 17th and Carpenter into a park called Carpenter Green, says South Philly Review.
- Next Monday, Universal Companies is presenting its plan for the Royal Theater. Last we heard in July, Universal’s Kenny Gamble wanted to tear down all but the facade of the theater and build retail and housing. The meeting is at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at The Bainbridge Club, 1529 Bainbridge St.
