Karina’s is moving next door to Fond across from the fountain

Karina’s, the Italian-Spanish BYOB that is being replaced by Le Virtu’s Brigantessa, will be moving into the building next to Fond at the East Passyunk fountain.

The Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation, which owns the building currently housing Karina’s half a block away, made the announcement on their Twitter feed.

The red one in the middle will be Karina’s

The owner of the new location, 1535 S. 11th St., recently went before the Passyunk Square Civic Association for zoning permission to convert the property into a “white box” on the first floor for a restaurant to be named.

Looks like the mystery is solved. The move will also likely placate fans of Karina’s who were bugged that the BYO was being ousted.

If you hadn’t heard about it yet, check here for some info on Brigantessa.

Sometimes it feels like all of the restaurants on Passyunk Ave. are playing musical chairs.

    Some questions:

Isn’t the new location privately owned?
Is Karina’s actually going to do the massive renovation job to make this row home a restaurant?
I love Karina’s, but they aren’t exactly known for their attention to decor/construction detail.

Jeremy, the building owner always intended on doing the renovation, so I’m assuming Karina’s will just provide input.
