SoPhilly Spotlight: Brownstone Basement edition

For this week’s  SoPhilly Spotlight, we give you a Broad Street apartment rental while posing a question: Would you pay $1,300 a month to live in a 1-bedroom basement apartment?

Your front door would be the lower one on the right.
Your front door would be the lower one on the right.

Granted, it is one of the bigger 1-bedrooms you’ll come across at 775 square feet, but man, is it ever dark.

That's looking from the kitchen toward the living room.
That’s looking from the huge kitchen toward the living room.

From the listing by Coldwell Banker Preferred:

Recently updated 1 bed/1 bath… Open floor plan..Private lower level entrance…Block away from public transit..Available immediately..Unit will be freshly painted prior to move in…

That’s it. No other description or broker babble. The apartment is at 1218 S. Broad St., near Ellsworth-Federal (and Boot and Saddle, so that’s a perk).

1218 S. Broad3

1218 S. Broad4

1218 S. Broad6

But they don’t even show pictures of the living room or bedroom. Weird, huh?

Anything over $1K is too much.
    Probably more like $800.

I don’t care if it’s finished or not:
if you in a South Philly basement, you gon get wet.

I lived in a 1bdrm basement apt in rittenhouse from 2005-2011 for $550/month with 3 dogs and a cat and I had windows and a private back yard.
    this is clearly a yuppartment!
