Clothing store called Footgon coming to 15th and Jackson

Thanks to the neighborhood tipster who notified us of this story. If you see something, say something – in an email to punk@passyunkpost.com.

A little sign popped up at the corner of 15th and Jackson last month saying the new tenant will be called Footgon.

Turns out it’s a clothing store, according to its Facebook page. Owner Brian Baivi said he plans to open within a month, after making some renovations to the facade of the building (what, no more “hot food” scrawled in spray paint?!!).

Wonder if he plans to keep this paste-up, which is the only cool part of the outside and looks to be by Joe Boruchow, who completed that cool mural near 9th and Dickinson.

Baivi came to South Philly almost three years ago from North Africa, where he owned three clothing stores. He already has the inside of the store stocked and ready to go. Brands include Lacoste, Levi’s, Polo, Nike, Adidas and others. He said they’ll be first-run items; this is not a discount clothing store.

From Facebook. Baivi said everything is covered, so no worries about dust.

The shop is just down the block from the booming Gennaro’s Tomato Pie that opened a little over a year ago. That’s a good sign.
