Zagat Philly reported last week that Avery Goldman was planning to open The Baker’s Jar at the corner of 16th and Bainbridge selling jar-packaged cakes, pies and puddings, plus your standard issue cakes, pies and cookies.

Goldman is preparing for inspections this week, and hopes to be open for retail business … A New Haven native who chose Philadelphia as her post-college home, Goldman worked at several bakeries and catering companies around town before finally deciding to strike out on her own.
