Phase 2 of construction is under way on “Metropolis” – a new development at 2nd and Wharton streets that will have 11 pricey homes when it’s finished.
You may remember that this was the site of the Mummer’s warehouse fire back in December 2012. With the front phase nearing completion, work has begun on the second set of homes on the corner of Wharton and Hancock.
The four-story units were originally listed in the $400-$500k range and boast from 2,700 to 3,200 square feet of customizable space, plus a roof deck and a garage. The one at 1301 S. 2nd sold last month for $520,000.
Pennsport has seen quite a bit of new construction recently and things don’t look to be slowing down any time soon, with town home projects underway down the street at 2nd and Reed and Constitution Court around the corner at 3rd and Reed.
Oh, and there’s that little project at Mount Sinai that you may have heard of as well.
