OK, so it’s obviously not a vegan steakhouse, but thanks to an intriguing partnership, Philadelphia Magazine decided to call this event by that name.
The Vegan Commissary, which has been delighting meatless devotees since late last year, is pairing up with the chef of Center City’s Barcly Prime steakhouse for a “Foobooz After Dark” dinner at the restaurant at 1703 S. 11th St. on March 29 starting at 11:30 p.m.
Says the food blog:
Keep in mind, when we named this dinner “Vegan Steakhouse”, it was only because of the steakhouse chef. Now that we’ve seen the menu, it looks like the two of them have wandered pretty far from the vegan-in-a-steakhouse concept. All the way to edible chopsticks, it seems…
The menu, which you can find here, includes “oyster,” “scallops,” “sushi” and other pretenders, but also, inexplicably, cheese – no quotes. Unless that’s a typo.
Regardless, it’s intriguing.
