SoPhilly Spotlight: Sensible edition
Yes, you can still afford to buy a good house in South Philly. This one even has a finished basement.
Coming in at a sensible $174,900, this week’s SoPhilly Spotlight is a 2-bed, 1-bath renovated rowhouse at 1519 Manton St. that has everything you need just a couple blocks from a subway stop (and Boot & Saddle).
From the listing, by Tri-County Realty:
The entire home was fully renovated top to bottom, inside and out, in 2009 and included the addition of Central Air, brand New Brick Front, Finished Basement, and creating a great Spacious floor plan. Enter into the spacious living room with oak hardwood floors, recessed lighting, high ceilings and wide open floor plan. From the living room, continue to the dining area and Eat-In kitchen, featuring beautiful Granite counters, plenty of solid wood cabinets to meet your storage needs, tile backsplash, stainless steel energy-efficient appliances, and tasteful tile floor. The rear door leads to the private yard which is perfect for relaxing, gardening, bbq’s and entertaining.
The Second floor has Two LARGE bedrooms, plenty of closet space, and a wonderfully renovated bathroom including a jacuzzi tub and glass shower doors. The energy efficient windows allow nice natural light throughout the home. The basement is Finished, with tile flooring, a laundry room, and mechanical closet. This extra space can be used in many ways, as a family room, office, playroom, storage, etc. There are so many options to make this home your own and utilize all of the great space to meet your individual needs.
One thing. Is this just a terrible block or something? Because that’s freakin’ cheap.

Still in the Breeze. These house were 50 thousand dollars less two years ago.
But the article says it was renovated… Did it look as good as it does in the pictures two years ago? Perhaps the price was more reflective of the condition at the time. The location is pretty nice and convenient…
