New takeout place at 13th and Snyder will be called Ameri Thai

Work is nearly finished on the Thai takeout place coming to 13th and Snyder, which will be called Ameri Thai.

There are signs in the window and pictures of various Thai dishes on the door. When a reader passed by recently, he said that the door was propped open and that it looks like the work was almost done inside.

The plan was for it to be a takeout restaurant, but when we peeked through the window, we saw close to 20 chairs lined up against the side, meaning there will be a little dining room.

Remember when that corner looked like this?

Meanwhile, down the block, work is progressing at the beer distributor at the former Superior Plumbing building, where the facade started falling onto the sidewalk. Scaffolding went up this week to fix that.

And across the street from that, the hair salon planned for the former Moskow Curtains has started work. That’s a lot of positive development for Synder Avenue. Let’s keep it coming, and maybe one day, folks south of Snyder will get that coffee shop they’ve been wanting.

The building is looking so much better and is improving that corner already. Can’t wait for what looks like a decent Thai option so close. I’ll be getting my curry on as soon as they open.

Does anyone know who/what’s taking over the old How ‘Bout a Hoagie at 13th & Jackson? The ‘For Rent’ sign is down and work is being done to the inside.

Looking forward to another Thai option now that Circles has gone off the deep end with prices. This is across the street from my favorite neighborhood bodega so I will be going often!

I actually love the corner store. I walked down there with my coffee mug to buy eggs one morning and the guy filled my cup with a fresh pot he just brewed. Gracias! I like the hot pepper selection they have as well!! They are far and away better than that bullet proof glassed asian fortress a block over on 12th St…

This new Thai place? The building looks good because the owner improved it. The Thai restaurant? Its whatever… Kind of a let down. I’m relieved that so far, there doesn’t seem to be the typical cheap signage. Lets hope it doesn’t smell as bad as the place that used to occupy the south east corner of 12th & Snyder..

Speaking of 12th and Snyder… What is going on with that old closed down shoe store place? Does anybody know?

I also love the old San Agus! The staff is friendly and heir tamales on the weekend are a winner.
